Individual Fun Awards
Melv – BBD – most audacious home run (1st base was off base and failed to tag Melv who then jogged round for a homer while the oppo stood watching!) - Mr Mischief book.
Claire – BJC – 3 catches in one game v SoP – Softball key chain.
Haggis – 2MT - falling over on 1 and 2, lack of motivation – Olympic runner special diet of hot chicken nuggets.
Mel – BP - "Uri-Geller-like powers". Successfully bending not one, but TWO new softball bats - just in training!!! - wooden bat key chain.
Barney – CM – most non-softball related injuries – Soft Mr Bump toy.
Jo – RK - ran from 1st to the pitcher's plate thinking it was 2nd, then started to run back when everyone was screaming – Little Miss Sunshine book.
Frink – BBD - running man, a whole season running for me and all other injured parties, to the extent that against 2MT they insisted he have a rest. Was replaced by girl runners and BBD still won the game – Softball mug for a nice relaxing cuppa.
Mimi – BJC – vice captain out of retirement ended up running the team for the whole season as nobody would be captain - Softball mug for a nice relaxing cuppa.
Jon – UC - when playing short stop has fell over on his backside/fumbled the ball so many times he reminded his team of a clown! - Jester's hat
Mary – BJC - Cycling miles to find her team – Honky horn to help with location!
Joe Go – CM - David v Goliath re-enactment (you just don't shove a 9ft tall player in the chest do you?!?!) - Water catapult so he can keep a safe distance next time.
Jamie – CSS - Ended up wearing a cow suit for far too much of one peculiar game – Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilk
Dave – BP – not because it got stamped on when they found out they weren't last, but because his umpire's clicker has been held together with hair bands (the big girl) - new clicker.
Adam - BP - minor tantrum 'cos they weren't bottom - dummy.
Paul 'The Wall' Green – FB – not for being irreplaceable for the Bunnies at Short but for showing his steam rolling characteristics when he got carried away at 1st nearly terminating the League Organiser - Were Rabbit.
Clint - RK - for providing the "Most-Spectacular-catch-out-to-finish-a-game".
It was 19-19 at the end of the Beer Pitchers v Roger's Knickers game. BP had a man on 3rd base and one of the best female hitters up to bat. She hit the ball quite hard but not quite high enough to lob Tom (their pitcher). Tom managed to get a glove to it, but didn't catch it - however Clint dived in behind him and collected it before the ball hit the ground: OUT, BALL-GAME!! - Glove key chain.
Pete (retiring) – SoP – Worst umpire (voted by his team) - Nerd specs. Also Michael Jackson award - sequins for his white batting glove.
Dan Halai – UC - One of the Monkey's players hit the ball so high that when Dan made an amazing catch, it had snow/ice on it (slight exaggeration) – hand warmers.
George - BBD – Most trips to A&E and for having her birthday on Awards Night! - Little Miss Whoops t-shirt and a cake!
Thanks to: Ali (Scorer), Jamie (League Pimp), Si (Party man), Jody & Hels (Fancy dress party team) for helping make this such a smooth running league.
Also thanks Roger, Tom and all the staff at the Port of Call for their work this year, and for helping out with the marquee again (Sunrise Marquees).
